JOSÉ Protasio RIZAL Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896)
 
He was a Filipino nationalist and reformist and the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He was the inspiration and thus wrongly implicated as the leader of the Katipunan Revolution, and that led to his execution on December 30, 1896, now celebrated as Rizal Day. As a political figure, José Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan. Para sa akin, si Jose Rizal ang mas karapat-dapat na maging pambansang bayani dahil sa kanyang pagiging matalino at pagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa bansa. Kung pipiliin ko lang kasi si Bonifacio dahil literal siyang nakipaglaban, tingin ko magagawa niya rin naman yun pero mas pinili niya lang na hindi gumamit ng dahas.

It would be Dr. Jose Rizal. Even though no legislation had been passed that making it official, he is already referred as our Philippine National Hero. Rizal was probably one of the brightest at bravest person in his time, on which he fights for rights of the Filipino people. I believe that he deserves to be the Philippine National Hero.
