JOSÉ Protasio RIZAL Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896)
 
He was a Filipino nationalist and reformist and the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. You know son, I prefer to choose Andres Bonifacio, because Andres Bonifacio fight against the Spaniards using his strength. He was the Father of Revolutionary and Supremo of Katipunan Movement who seek the independence of the Philippines. however he use it in a wrong manner but he is not afraid to face all of the Spaniards and fight for our country.

im Irene Reyes (im khristiana's friend using his username) I agree with her sister Faith Tialco that our natinal hero must be Andres Bonifacio because he fight the Spanish in his own strenght unlike Rizal who just use his pen and his skills that Spanish dont get if he is just writing to comment on what's happening or is he fight in that way.

in my opinion, Andres Bonifacio should be the proclaimed national hero of our country because he is the one who established the Katipunan-whom in the first place died of protecting our lands from the colonizers.

I am favor to your statement Mr. San Juan, Dr. Jose Rizal is a Filipino Nationalist and did a lot of things to claim the independence of Philippines, our national country. He sacrifice his own life for our country and left his writings that shows how great he is. He wrote some revolutionary reform against the Spaniards. He is using only his pen to fight against the Spanish, i think this is the right way to compel with the Spaniards and Dr. Rizal fights against the Spaniards alone. compare to Andres Bonifacio he choose to fight using his "bolo" and by using the Katipunan.

I agree to Robelle. For me, Jose Rizal is worthy to become our National Hero because of his intelligence and talent he made many great contributions in our country. His works and extraordinary intelligence can never be replaced by any of our other heroes though they have the same goal of making our country free and independent.

It is in the Philippine History that if were talking about our national hero, it is no other than Dr. Jose Rizal. Without minding why him, instead of Andres Bonifacio or Emilio Aguinaldo whom they are purely a Filipino. But for me, I choose Dr. Jose Rizal as the Philippine National Hero because he was first to called the Philippines as his fatherland even though he is not purely a Filipino because of his great-grand father, a Chinese mestizo. He is more devoted to his countrymen through his novels and writings.

For me, I still choose Dr. Jose P. Rizal because he was one of those people who defended the Philippines to achieve freedom from Spanish Administration.He was a good example for us because of the good things he did for our country. Even when he has been shot, Filipinos was still his concerns. So he definitely deserves to be a National Hero of the Philippines.

Hi Mr. Jay! I like to commend your reaction about this article. We may have the same family name but I think our thoughts are different. Anyways, I think Rizal and Bonifacio have their own ways and strategies on how to fight for our country's independence then. I think Rizal chose the best way which is to write all his thoughts thru novels in order to open the heart and mind of every Filipino rather than aiming fir independence thru violence.

On the other side, I always believe that not everybody who wants to get something have to die just to get what he wants. Bonifacio didn't even have to fight thru violence for the freedom of our country because things got even worse. Well he chose that and Rizal chose to fight in a peaceful yet effective way

Hi ms. Grace. It is a fact that Bonifacio became a leader of revolution and I also believe that a good leader is also a good follower. on the other side I think anyone could be a hero regardless of his position in a group. Rizal himself fought by his own though he have his friends on his side.

Yes I agree that Dr.Jose Rizal should be our National Hero despite all the things against him, he still deserve to be a national hero. He offer his life for the Nation he use his wisdom to fight against the enemy by his writings and not by sword. He know even through his work we can overcome and we can be free.

The national hero for me is Andres Bonifacio, He is so brave and his not just a a man of words but a man of actions. He fight for our nation even to the point of his death.Even though others does not recognize him to be a hero but by his works you can see and there are a lots of controversy that involves Jose Rizal that will confused as if he deserve to be a hero. So for me It's Bonifacio.

I would rather choose Andres Bonifacio as our National Hero for the reason that he did not use his authority as the leader of "Katipunan" to overpower and use other Filipinos and made himself safe from the Spaniards instead he did fight with honor together with his "Katipuneros" during their battles with the Spaniard colonizers for justice & freedom.

NATIONAL ANTHEM, Established the FIRST REPUBLIC IN ASIA. PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE. Aguinaldo was a COMPETENT MILITARY LEADER, AGUINALDO was indeed the "MASTER of the SWORD". He was the overall General before he got elected as the President. AGUINALDO ESTABLISHED OUR NATION. AGUINALDO FOUGHT THE SPANIARDS, and the Americans. All I can say is that during those times pen isn't mightier than sword, because war is applicable sometimes especially at that time wherein they take away everything to the Filipinos. Andres Bonifacio is the one, the one that must be claimed as our national hero. He gave so much effort for our country's freedom not just by writing. Sometimes you have to sacrifice everything even your own people just to have what is truly yours.

I think, Dr. Jose Rizal deserves to be the Philippine National Hero because of his great contributions especially in his writings. He doesn't want a bloody fight but rather a peaceful one which is very inspiring. I believe that being a hero doesn't necessarily means that you`ll have to sacrifice your life for the country through revolution, I think It should be inspiring in the right way at the same time. And Dr. Rizal was known as the First-Filipino. Because of him Filipino were known in other part of the world.

I am sorry to say this but your comment is good. I disagree to your comment because I think it's time to change our national hero because Dr. Jose P. Rizal is a coward that didn't join the revolution which Andres Bonifacio wants's to build to fight the Spaniards. He knows that we have to fight for our freedom with a courage and brave to conquer the opponent Spaniards. So I will pick Andres Bonifacio to cherish what he have done for our country.

I totally Yes to Rizal it should be our national hero instead of Bonifacio. Well if we talk about National Hero issue we should not be only on the things that they have done for our country and the blood that they gave but the things they have done for the sake of the people and the whole country. Rizal who ignited the revolution, so without him, there will be no revolt. Rizal also uses the peaceful way against the Spain.
